After the first distribution on 30th April, we felt it was necessary to send our social worker and headteacher to visit every family we are helping to determine the needs (more than 40 have between 5-10 children). When we looked at their data, we decided to first give an equal ration to every family on our list. And then we would follow up two weeks later and give the very needy families a top-up ration.

Kenya is also hit by covid-19, for several weeks there has been a lock down. The families of our Dickson school are casual workers, no work for day means no money = no food. They are struggling. Even though we have pleaded with the government to allow us to continue our food program, they don't allow us. Through the Dutch board of S2S money was raised and on Saturday over 90 families got food packages.

Een nieuw opgezet project in 2020 is het ‘school sponsorproject’ voor basisscholen. Het is een project waarin twee werelden aan elkaar verbonden worden en van elkaar zullen leren; Kinderen en leerkrachten van een Nederlands basisschool en kinderen en leerkrachten van de Dickson Comprehensive School.

During summer 2019 an enthusiastic group from The Netherlands travelled to Kenya. In preparation of the trip the group organised all kind of fund raising campaigns to contribute to aims of the foundation. From close by they have experienced the work of S2S and participated in the summer camp for the boys of OGBC among others.

Due to law changes regarding eduation, extension of the school in Port Reitz with extra class rooms became necessary. By initiative of a bunch of teenagers a mixed group committed in 2018 to reach out for this goal as team 'Jenga Kenya'. After a spring full of activities to raise the necessary funds, the group travelled to Mombassa in August 2018. Together with local builders they realized the extra class rooms. A blessing to both the community of Port Reitz as the Dutch travellers.
